Here’s what to expect during a complete dental checkup at our office:

• Oral Exam: This involves a careful examination of your teeth and mouth to check for any signs of cavities, or other dental problems. These exams help us keep track of your dental health and administer timely treatment in case any problems are identified. We also make use of X-rays when necessary to detect any oral problems that may not be visible to the naked eye.
• Professional Teeth Cleaning: Getting your teeth and gums professionally checked and cleaned regularly at a dentist’s office is the best way to maintain your oral health. Even if you follow a good home-care regime, there are certain areas in the mouth where your toothbrush and floss cannot reach. A thorough dental cleaning can remove plaque, food, bacteria and stains from your teeth and make them look and feel fresh and clean.
• Oral Cancer Screening: An oral cancer screening for our patients helps us detect any signs of oral cancer at an early stage, and act before it is too late. If you notice any changes in your mouth such as sores, swelling, difficulty in chewing and swallowing, or numbness, please let us know during your checkup. Sometimes, oral cancer may not show visible symptoms in early stages, and hence it is very important to undergo regular screenings to rule out the possibilities of its occurrence.
• Fluoride Application (when necessary): Topical fluoride application treatments can help strengthen the enamel of the teeth and even reverse early stages of decay.
